Pretty bike, bad service, February 4, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Stowabike 20" City Bike Compact Folding 6 Speed Shimano Bicycle (Misc.) Riders beware - I had a bad experience with this seller. The bike was shipped with assembly required - which I understood. However, the bike arrived with a bent frame, broken brake cables, and two dented fenders. Several weeks of inquiries have failed to produce either return service or a refund.
I was able to fix the bent frame and live with the dented fenders, but I will have to replace the broken brake cable to ride this bike if I cannot get it returned.
Also - the handlebars do not fold down. Therefore, the bike does not fold as small as other similarly priced items available on this site.
I would recommend the silver bike with the Shimano accessories for $129 listed when you search "folding bikes". A friend purchased one recently and it rides nearly as well as a Dahon.

Absolutely Love It !!!!!, January 29, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Stowabike 20" City Bike Compact Folding 6 Speed Shimano Bicycle (Misc.) Great value for your money. They sent the wrong book in the box, but for me the set-up was simple and straight-forward. I took it for a spin on hilly and flat terrain and had no problems. The gears shift smoothly and it's rides well. I like the extra long fenders, which will keep me clean when riding in rain or snow. I wish it had a device that can hold it together when it's folded, since it has the tendency to open up, but I can also get a bungee cord to keep it together. All in all, it's a nice looking bike that functions well.

I am really upset. This bike comes disasembled. Since I am not a mechanic (I am a dancer/pianist), I have to spend a fortune to take this thing to a bike shop so they can put it together for me, because it would take me hours, and I don't want to put something together not the right way and put my safety in jeapordy. I mean, it's really all in pieces. The handlebards, breaks, wires, peddles, seat, etc have to be put together.
Another thing, it's VERY heavy. I bought it to take with me traveling, so I wouldn't have to walk in cities in europe to get to lessons, I could ride there. But, because of it's heavy weight, I will not be able to take it.
The ONE positive thing about this bike (for me) is that it's pretty. It's shiny and silver- would be great to decorate with spray paint. Otherwise, if you don't have necessary expectations, it's a good bike to have. Unless you need to travel with it and/or carry it places with you-- I can't even lift it.. forget carrying... Read more
