Great Bike, February 13, 2012 By August West (New York, NY) - See all my reviews This review is from: Retrospec Fixie Beta Series Skunk Fixed Gear Single Speed Urban Road Bike (White/Black) (Sports) My son was bugging me for a fixed gear bike so I took him to the local bike shop and after 1 hour I left more confused than when I went in! I was a little hesitant ordering a bike online but my son found this bike on Amazon and what can I say, the price was right. The bike arrived packed very nicely and assembling it was a piece of cake and I am far from a certified bike mechanic. He has only had it for a short while now but every day after school he tells me how much he loves this bike and all of his friends are jealous, so at that point I invested in a really good bike lock! 5 stars for the Skunk!!!
Disappointed., May 1, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Retrospec Fixie Beta Series Skunk Fixed Gear Single Speed Urban Road Bike (White/Black) (Sports) I received the Skunk Beta Fixie quick enough, but knew right away by the condition of the box that I was going to have a problem. The box was ripped up and re-taped and, judging by the condition of the tape, I could tell this wasn't a UPS quick tape job but it had been in this condition for a while. Why would they even ship a box like that out?? The only thing missing was a nut from the crank, which normally has five. Aside from that, EVERY nut on the bike was not only loose, but SO loose as to almost be falling off, which was probably why one was missing from the crank. The bike is very basic, so much so that I have to find a water bottle cage that doesn't require standard frame bolts, as this frame has none. It rides well, the weight is good, and it looks good, all of which allows me to give it three stars. And that's a stretch.
