I have owned this bike for a month and love it! I commute 10 miles each way to work. I used to occasionally take my bicycle, but it's a long haul and more often than not, I would talk myself out of it. Now, with the Rapido, I take the bike absolutely every chance I get - usually at least three times a week. The best way to to describe the experience is that it's like you're on a tandem with Lance Armstrong.
The bike offers both pedal assist and twist and go mode. PA means the motor kicks on only when you pedal, TAG means the motor is always on and powered.
I've found that this bike is good for about 20 miles on a charge (when used mostly in pedal assist mode), but I'm a big guy (200 pounds) and I like to go fast. A smaller person who rides more slowly would get better mileage.
Don't think of these as bikes, think of them as alternative transportation. This bike has allowed my wife and I to go back to having just one car, a huge savings in gas and... Read more

I've had my Via Rapido for about a month, and have really enjoyed it. I've used it for my 4-mile commute about 7 times already, basically whenever weather permits. About a mile of the commute is a fairly steep hill climb (about a 5% grade on average). The hill is steep and long enough that less-fit riders like myself will often get off and walk the bike for a while. I'm about 185 pounds, not very athletic, and the Via Rapido lets me get up this hill without trouble. I still pedal, but I apply the amount of power I'm comfortable with and I'm not too worn out when I get to work. It's actually turns out to be faster door-to-door than my usual bus commute.
So, I definitely recommend this bike. It's pretty easy to assemble, reasonably priced, and it's one of the least "e-bikey" looking e-bikes I've seen. I bought my Via Rapido a year ago (feb 2011) & best buy.It was a disconued floor model.I paid $125.00. Yes you read $125.00.via a computer error,and sale.I just love it! The womans style,is great for me 'cause of my age & knee arthritus.I was prepared to pay much more.The only fault is the battery price.Tempting me to next buy a entire bike,instead of just a new battery.All & All its been a joy..,TEG
